As our Events Manager, you would play a pivotal role in the successful planning and execution of conferences, professional development initiatives, and meetings for NSPE.
As an NSPE team member, you will be focusing on overseeing event logistics, collaborating with stakeholders, managing on-site operations, exhibit, and sponsorship program, and ensuring adherence to budgets.
As our Events Manager, you will also facilitate committee engagement and support the development of education programs. This multifaceted role needs exceptional organizational skills, negotiation abilities, establish strong and effective partnerships and a commitment to delivering high-quality events – all of which enhances NSPE's reputation and impact within the engineering community.
Things we’d like you to bring to our NSPE team…
You’d complete a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have accomplished three to five years of professional experience in association management and/or program management, or a mix of education and experience. You would also have proven experience in program and event management.
We’d need you to have strong negotiation and communication abilities, strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to write, edit, and make oral presentations. You’ll need to have strong organizational skills to work effectively in a team setting. You’d be working on concurrent deliverables and projects to meet established goals, deadlines, and quality standards.
Your initiative and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines would be vital for the role and the team. Working with the team and customers, your strong interpersonal skills would be needed to work effectively with all levels of NSPE staff, and members, including volunteer leaders, and the engineering community.
As our Events Manager, you’d use your strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 products including Teams, Outlook email and calendar, database software, event planning software and the internet.
Things you’ll be contributing and doing as our NSPE Meetings Manager…
You would be able to develop and maintain planning schedules and procedures for conferences and meetings and in collaboration with the Director, conduct site visits, negotiate with venues, and secure meeting space, signage, services, and catering.
You would lead the call for submissions, review process, and participant selection for presentations and speakers under the Director's guidance. You would also provide support on creating annual operating budgets for learning programs and events as directed by the Director.
As our Events Manager, you’d lead and manage exhibit and sponsorship program along with contracted vendors. This includes developing and implementing strategies to secure sponsorships, designing and executing the exhibit area, and providing on-site support to exhibitors. You’d manage all meeting-related services, including registration, housing, food and beverage orders, audiovisual needs, and room setups and be responsible for event related information in our association management system, NetForum.
And, you’ll have the opportunity to partner with our Manager of Continuing Education to deliver any in person learning as identified to on demand learning and ensure compliance with professional development credit protocols.
You’ll also serve as our staff liaison for our conference committee, the NSPECon Planning Committee, and for the Women’s Leadership Program, and participate in cross functional teams across NSPE.
Finally, you’ll experience occasional travel and you’ll be asked to perform other duties and tasks in addition to what we’ve noted above.
