The Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI) is seeking a Vice President, Educational Programs & Publications to provide expert leadership in the innovation and development of FDLI’s educational programs and publications. As a key member of FDLI’s senior leadership team, this position is responsible for annual strategic planning and the oversight of FDLI’s educational programs and publications team of seven people. This role requires a high level of networking with key stakeholders in the food and drug law community, as well as an understanding of the breadth of issues in the FDA-regulated space in order to invigorate and shape the content and programs that serve FDLI’s membership community. The Vice President speaks publicly, directs staff, and works closely with FDLI members.
Attendance in-person at events in DC throughout the year is required and the Vice President must reside in the Washington, DC-Metro region. The position reports to the President & CEO.
FDLI is a hybrid work environment composed of a strong, supportive, and close team of twenty professionals. While employees have the discretion to work from an approved remote location, this position will need to attend in-person meetings and events in the Washington, DC region, as necessary to meet the needs of FDLI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Leads and manages the content team and develops the vision for innovative offerings through multiple formats including conferences, webinars, training courses, and publications, ensuring that content meets the highest standard of excellence.
Refines and executes a strategic plan for content growth and program expansion. Mines synergies between content streams to drive revenue and growth, including via new delivery platforms.
Cultivate relationships that extend beyond FDLI’s current reach to broaden programs and capture new audiences.
Provides strategic leadership to achieve FDLI’s organizational objectives in collaboration with department leaders and the CEO; identifies opportunities for organizational cross-functional growth areas.
Presents at Board meetings to seek concurrence on strategy and execution of department objectives.
Oversees the FDLI Annual Conference program, our flagship meeting of approximately 900 attendees. Works closely with Director, Educational Programs and Senior Director, Meetings and Partnerships on this and other events.
Ensures monitoring of regulatory activities in all FDA-regulated industries to identify “hot topics” and areas of opportunity
Develops KPIs for the Annual Conference and larger events to monitor success and identify areas of opportunity.
Cultivates relationships with FDA officials in furtherance of planning FDLI programs.
Works closely with Marketing team on strategies for promoting content.
Works closely with the Membership team on advancing member recruitment and member engagement through content offerings.
With the Chief Operating Officer, develops and implements the budget for the Content department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required and JD or graduate degree strongly preferred.
10+ years of experience with FDA regulation, program development, and/or stakeholder management
Strategic thinking skills
Experience leading teams with the ability to mentor and provide constructive feedback
Working knowledge of U.S. food and drug law regulation and policy strongly preferred
Attention to detail, balanced with big-picture perspective; ability to prioritize and deliver multiple objectives contemporaneously; demonstrated accountability and agility
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build relationships with staff, members, and volunteers, and outside organizations
Strong writing and editing skills
