The Association of American Literary Agents, a dynamic and growing trade association furthering the interests of literary agents in the United States, is seeking a fractional executive director, to work with the organization’s board of directors, officers, and committees, to provide operational oversight, execute strategic plans, and manage internal infrastructure. Responsibilities will include participating in planning and execution of key programs and events, including the annual People of Publishing conference; managing budgeting and day-to-day operations; supporting the organization’s committees in their work overseeing membership, communications, and programming; and fostering communication and cooperation between the association and other organizations in the publishing space.
The ideal candidate will bring:
7+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit or membership organizations
Strong project management, event planning, and strategy execution skills
Proven experience guiding organizations, particularly in membership-based or nonprofit settings
Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities
Familiarity with the publishing ecosystem preferred
