Career Opportunity
Nevins, Inc. seeks a strategic, mission-driven leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Founded in 1959, Nevins has a long and deeply rooted history of serving adults with developmental disabilities, growing from a small community-based effort into a respected provider of employment, education, and life-enrichment services.
For more than six decades, Nevins has adapted alongside changing care models, regulatory environments, and community needs—while remaining steadfast in its commitment to dignity, inclusion, and person-centered support.
Today, that legacy provides a strong foundation for the organization’s next chapter of impact. The organization enters this transition from a position of operational strength, with strong documentation practices, recent CARF accreditation, and established Medicaid-funded and private-pay programs serving approximately 55–60 participants. Nevins operates in a highly regulated clinical environment shaped by state oversight, Medicaid waiver requirements, insurer audits, and facility compliance standards.
Nevins seeks a CEO who can articulate a clear strategic direction, strengthen organizational culture, and unlock growth opportunities within its existing service model. Growth is expected to come primarily through optimizing authorized services and expanding participation within programs the organization already qualifies to provide, rather than through dramatic programmatic shifts.
The new CEO should expect to encounter a demanding frontline caregiving environment, meaningful regulatory complexity, and an engaged Board that is energized by the leadership transition. The Board itself is likely to evolve over the next one to two years, requiring thoughtful governance partnership and process strengthening.
Top priorities for the incoming CEO will include:
Clarifying and refining strategic priorities in partnership with the Board
Strengthening culture through visible, empowering, and servant-oriented leadership
Optimizing reimbursement-based revenue by ensuring full utilization of authorized clinical services
Supporting and retaining strong internal leaders across clinical and HR functions
Investing in communication and training systems to improve consistency across management levels
Maintaining strong relationships with payers, state partners, and community stakeholders
Mission: To provide clinically grounded employment, education, and community engagement opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.
Reporting Structure: The CEO reports to the five-member Board of Directors and provides leadership to the organization’s senior team, which includes 5 direct reports.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and begins in the $145,000 range. Benefits include but are not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, supplemental life, and a 401k plan.
Working Environment/Location: On-site/hybrid Charlotte, North Carolina
