Who we are looking for:
ASCO is in search of a results-driven and action-focused Director to translate the Center for Cancer Care Impact’s (CCCI) high-level vision into action plans, by overseeing concept development, project design, and timely delivery of work products.
The successful hire will effectively collaborate with the Cancer Care Impact and Ethics Committees and strategically engage with other ASCO stakeholders to ensure all projects are successfully delivered and aligned with ASCO’s mission and strategy. Significant position components also include analyzing and advising on critical issues in cancer care related to access, quality, research, and the oncology workforce, and leading and creating key resources (evidence-based reports, convenings, white papers, briefs) to inform ASCO’s direction for internal and external audiences.
This position is hybrid with a primary location in Alexandria, VA. We anticipate the hire to be onsite approximately 2 days per week.
Responsibilities
Lead execution of activities to support CCCI’s thought leadership portfolio on complex health policy topics. Oversee initiatives from concept to completion including business cases, financial/budget implications, and implementation plans, ensuring relevance to cancer care, ASCO’s members and the oncology workforce.
Author and coordinate substantive work of staff and volunteer writing groups, to produce white papers, articles, and other publishable quality written work to support the CCCI thought leadership portfolio and departmental projects.
Manage the operational and project management infrastructure of assigned projects, by developing and maintaining clear project sources/ideas, processes and timelines.
Design, implement, and report on robust evaluation frameworks to measure the impact and effectiveness of programs through detailed written reports and presentations of publishable quality.
Identify and develop opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration and serve as an internal consultant and the liaison for project execution and evaluation.
Act as ASCO staff liaison to other societies/associations for cross-association initiatives as assigned.
Supervise and develop high-performing staff in the execution of cross functional projects, managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external partners.
Lead or assist with the management, strategy, and implementation of CCIC Committee work and initiatives, ensuring alignment with ASCO’s broad strategic priorities.
Perform and collaborate on other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Health Systems Management, or related field or equivalent years of experience
8 – 10 years of progressively responsible experience in guiding stakeholder groups and developing health care programs and policies from vision to implementation
Demonstrated history of publication in the fields of medicine, health policy, public policy, social science, or other closely related disciplines
Experience managing teams and projects in a matrixed environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated experience with influencing and leading senior executives without direct line authority
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Health Systems Management, or related field
Experience in data analytics and management
