The Obesity Society is seeking a Senior Manager, Educational Programs for our national office located in Rockville, MD. This position can be home based with an optional hybrid in-office work schedule.
BACKGROUND
The Obesity Society is the leading non-profit, scientific and medical association whose purpose is to develop, extend and disseminate knowledge in the field of obesity. A growing organization, TOS is the professional home of 2,800+ researchers, clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals. The Society hosts the world’s leading scientific meeting on obesity each year (ObesityWeek®) and is actively involved in research, advocacy, clinical care, education, and enhancing public awareness about obesity as a disease.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Director of Education and Meetings, theSenior Manager, Educational Programs is an integral collaborator who will work cross-functionally with TOS’ staff, committees, faculty, and vendors to develop and launch new continuing medical education (CME/CE)and non-certified continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives spanning multi-day conferences, eLearning activities, symposia, advisory board meetings, and special projects.
The Senior Manager, Educational Programs is responsible for driving the successful completion of assigned projects by leading teams in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and managing project deliverables and budgets. The incumbent may have a supervisory role overseeing the work of Program Coordinator(s) reporting into him/her. The incumbent will ultimately be responsible for driving deliverables to ensure educational initiatives are delivered on time and on budget, as well as achieve assigned quality and performance measures designated for each project.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication and customer management skills. This person must be professional, efficient, self-motivated, innovative, productive, detail-oriented, organized, and have practical experience with technology and online applications. This person will possess skills to work in an agile work environment as part of a virtual team in a small non-profit association environment. The Senior Manager, Educational Programs will take initiative to help drive and deliver best-in-class results for projects, and will proactively work to improve stakeholder experience, learner engagement, and meet or exceed desired project outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Manager, Educational Programs will be expected to:
Provide A-to-Z service on assigned medical education, professional development, and other assigned projects. Projects are expected to vary greatly from year-to-year.
Use ingenuity, experience, contacts, and research to propose and fulfill new, engaging programs with measurable learner outcomes.
Fulfill all deliverables in grant-funded education and/or other special projects.
Work directly with senior staff, volunteers, and leadership in a professional manner.
Run webinars at a high professional level.
Provide onsite support of events. See Travel below.
Manage event registration process, including setting up events, overseeing registration, and responding to registration inquiries.
Prepare budgets, reconcile finances, and negotiate contracts related to project fulfillment.
Understand and uphold ACCME standards and documentation.
Manage speaker communications, slides, recordings, forms, etc.
Strong project management skills to manage partnerships and vendor/contractor relationships to keep projects organized, accurate, and on time.
Format slides and graphics at a professional level using Canva and PowerPoint.
Process speaker reimbursements and honoraria.
Design and employ evaluations and analyze results.
Work with internal personnel and vendors to publicize programs and monitor fulfillment of marketing.
Provide digital editing support as needed to trim TOS produced video content and post segments to LMS. Work with contractors for advanced video editing.
Make updates to TOS’ website via WordPress and other website editing solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in adult learning, instructional design, and grant-funded continuing medical education programming with proficient knowledge of industry standards and managing large-scale blended learning programs that demonstrate statistically significant outcomes.
High standard of personal responsibility and integrity.
Possesses high-level project management/leadership skills and competencies. Duties include: collaborating with colleagues and staff; initiating and defining project scope; developing project plans; coordinating, executing, documenting, monitoring, controlling (progress), and closing assigned projects as needed.
Experience developing and managing budgets, preparing program outcomes reports, and reconciliation.
Possesses expert-level knowledge and skills of ACCME standards as applied to Continuing Medical Education programs.
Demonstrated success in developing and deploying learner recruitment and program marketing strategies that maximize learner engagement.
Experience with educational outcomes methodologies, measurement, project evaluation, and reporting. Strong competence in Moore et al.’s CME Framework (2009) is preferred.
High-level performance and productivity while working remotely/independently.
Scheduling flexibility to accommodate short-lead-time projects and weekend/evening events.
Effectively works remotely with colleagues and collaborative partners and is highly proficient using digital tools such Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other web-based tools.
Experience working with and managing expert faculty.

TRAVEL
Up to 10% US and/or international travel may be required for new in-person events that are in development. The quantity will vary from year to year, but dates will be planned in advance to allow work-life balance/scheduling.
One week travel to the ObesityWeek® conference every fall (typically first week in November). This is the main conference produced by The Obesity Society.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The Obesity Society reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
