The Development Manager leads the fund development activities of AIA Wisconsin, including annual partnership sales, conference exhibitor sales, and event sponsorship, and assists with giving campaigns for the Wisconsin Architects Foundation. The Development Manager may also assist with AIA Wisconsin’s member recruitment, retention, services, and benefits activities as assigned. The Development Manager cultivates and nurtures relationships with sponsors, members, individual donors, and board members, and plans, implements, and evaluates sales and fundraising strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AIA Wisconsin Partnership/Sponsorship (65%)
Expand and manage annual partnership campaign and oversee development of marketing tools
Lead efforts for exhibitor sales at annual conference and maintain exhibitor relations throughout the year
Collaborate with Communications and Programs teams to determine partner/sponsor benefit opportunities
Oversee partner/sponsor recognition and fulfillment of benefits
Work with the Executive Director and other team members to cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential partners/sponsors
Provide leadership, tools, and training to support and motivate board members to assist with fundraising goals
Lead process to ensure accurate data collection and maintain accurate records
Develop a Lead Development Committee for AIA Wisconsin engaging members in fundraising activities
Work with Communications team to develop and oversee advertising sales to current partners and sponsors as well as prospects
Collaborate with Communications and Programs teams to ensure accurate messaging and exposure related to sponsorship benefits and advertising
Develop and manage goals and budgets for partnership/sponsorship activities
Wisconsin Architects Foundation Fundraising (WAF) (25%)
In partnership with the WAF Board and the Executive Director, assess current and future activities for funding potential
Develop and manage individual giving efforts
Lead and manage annual fundraising campaign
Explore potential new fundraising opportunities
Manage donation acknowledgments
Develop and manage goals and budgets for giving activities
Contribute to grant writing and reporting
Membership (5%)
Develop and implement strategies to maintain and continue to grow membership in all categories including architects, students, associates, and allied professionals
Work with the Membership Committee to develop and execute an annual membership recruitment plan, with support from other team members
Collaborate with Communications team for membership outreach and stewardship
Management (5%)
Work closely with the Executive Director and Boards in setting short and long term goals
Provide reports at Board of Directors meetings for both organizations
Work with other team members to execute plans and share analytics

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Marketing/Sales or equivalent in work experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and web content management systems
Working knowledge of web-based meeting platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting, GoogleMeet, etc.
Demonstrated experience with sales, campaign, and fundraising strategies
Demonstrated experience with goal and budget management

Demonstrated management experience in fundraising, partnership, business development, and membership or related work

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in an office environment and routinely requires employees to perform the following while carrying out the essential functions of this job:
Use standard office equipment (computer, phone, printer/photocopier, etc.)
Sit for long periods of time
Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Drive occasionally to statewide locations for events, meetings, etc. (Post COVID-19)
