Position Summary
Raybourn Group International (RGI) is actively searching for a highly skilled and dynamic Association Executive Director who is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organization. They serve as the chief executive officer and are accountable to the society's board of directors. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the society's mission is achieved while maintaining financial stability and organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a strategic plan in collaboration with the board of directors.
Provide vision and leadership to advance the society's mission and goals.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
Governance and Board Support:
Provide support to the board of directors, including agenda development, meeting coordination, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with bylaws and policies.
Serve as staff liaison to the society’s committees offering counsel and ensuring activities are aligned with strategic goals.
Facilitate communication between the board, committees, and members.
Financial Management:
Manage the society's budget and financial resources.
Recommend revenue opportunities and appropriate financial initiatives to the Treasurer.
Ensure financial sustainability and prudent fiscal management.
Review contracts for all financial obligations.
Collaborative Relationships:
Serve as point person as directed on behalf of the society with collaborating organizations, external funders, institutional and organization members, and government agencies.
Advocate for the interests of the society's members and the profession.
Staff Management:
Manage a staff of four including director of membership, director of communications, director of events, and membership coordinator.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Monitor staff time reporting and alignment of staff functions to the contracted scope of work.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a senior executive/C-suite role, preferably in a national or international association in the higher education field.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue generation.
Ability to create and execute plans of work that support organizational success.
Ability to grow membership and increase revenue through effective strategies.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with the Board.
Excellent leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
Strong operational management abilities, ensuring efficient and effective organizational functioning.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, even under pressure.
Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advances, translating them into organizational strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be an effective spokesperson.
Proven experience navigating volunteer organizations and managing boards effectively.
Understanding of the political and business aspects of running a successful organization.
Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to align organizational needs with the culture and goals.
Experience overseeing advocacy initiatives for an association.
The Association’s Executive Director will play a pivotal role in focusing on and growing the organization, navigating challenges, and shaping its future. The ideal candidate will bring energy, vision, and a strategic mindset to lead the association to new levels of success.
Travel: Expected travel for this position is less than 14 nights per year.
