The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) is a non-profit consortium of electric, natural gas, and nuclear utilities and their associations. CEWD supports programs and initiatives that ensure the development of a skilled, diverse energy workforce.
Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced programs and meetings manager who enjoys working on a variety of projects for a small and dynamic team.
This position will be responsible for the following:
Oversee arrangements for two annual conferences of 150-300 people and four smaller regional meetings. Work with Member Services Coordinator to manage speakers and logistics associated with hotels, audio-visual, business partners, and sponsors. Oversee registration and financial management of programs. Act as onsite contact for conferences and select regional meetings.
Oversee membership and member service functions. Respond to routine questions. Lead annual renewal process. Manage onboarding of new members and removal of lapsed members. Work with Member Services Coordinator to ensure accuracy of membership records.
Support development of marketing materials for conferences, meetings, and member benefits. Write promotional copy and work with staff team to message via social media channels. Support content management of CEWD.org website.
Manage activities associated with CEWD’s committees and goal areas, such as:
Creating and organizing new DE&I focused website by collecting best practices, case studies, data, and reports for inclusion on the site.
Contacting potential sources for media interviews, securing industry photos and videos, organizing industry presence at select trade shows, and more. (Additional responsibilities in this area will be developed in late 2023.)
Supporting tactics for publishing best practices, reports, data, and other essential membership resources.
Supporting instructors involved in Energy Education, specifically EIF, to onboard / train on website / database process (new).
Assisting regional consultants with state consortium by preparing CEWD annual presentation template, then customizing with unique state / regional data.
Collecting best practices from National Urban League partnerships, then organizing in a format to share as a toolkit.
Provide project management support for other programs and initiatives that are developed and executed within the staff team in the areas of education, career awareness, DE&I, and member support.
Work with financial and data management systems.
Qualifications
Working Relationships:
This position supports and collaborates with all six members of the CEWD team and provides direct supervisor to the organization’s Member Services Coordinator. Additionally, the position interfaces with several people and departments within the Edision Electric Institute. There is a large amount of interaction with individuals within the energy sector and related stakeholder organizations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
This position has the physical demands of sitting and standing on a regular basis. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the inside of the office to access office machinery and attend meetings. The person in this position operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Must be able to lift at least 5lbs periodically.

Experience/Background:
3-4 years of applicable experience with the ability to work with groups and manage projects. Experience in related field (association management, non-profit sector, communications) preferred.
Compensation
The salary range for this role begins at $80,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. CEWD/EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is typically up to 10% of base salary. Office Protocol/COVID-19
This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of two days each week. All employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or receive a medical or religious exemption.
