The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) seeks an exceptional Not-for-Profit executive for a newly defined Operational Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) position. As OCFO, you will report to the CEO and serve as an integral member of the Executive Team. You will chart your own course playing an essential role in our growth by forecasting the impact of new initiatives, exploring new business models, and communicating the effects of changes as we map the road ahead. We anticipate explosive growth as the world discovers the value of geospatial for domains ranging from climate change and disasters to national data infrastructure.
OGC is a fully remote access organization with requirements to travel internationally.

Position Summary:
The Operational Chief Financial Officer will work closely with the CEO and have authority for the core operational functionality of the Consortium. The OCFO will lead long-term financial planning, eliminate unnecessary spending and improve inefficient operations hence increasing ROI. The OCFO will provide business intelligence while mitigating business risk serving as the Consortium’s “change agent”.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Operational Chief Financial Officer will have oversight of all core functionality including financial, legal, contract, marketing, membership, IT and human resource functions of the organization. The OCFO will have authority to execute contracts under the seal of the Consortium, except where required or permitted by law to be otherwise signed and executed and except where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly delegated by the Board of Directors to some other officer or agent of the Consortium; all such instruments and contracts shall have been approved by legal counsel.
Operational:
Accountable for driving and optimizing the operations based on strong financial and ROI objectives ensuring congruent cross-departmental processes;
Ensure that the departments (Information Technology, Marketing, Standards, Innovation and Membership) are working in tandem to ensure optimal financial performance;
Plan, organize, facilitate and ensure all activities of the weekly and quarterly Executive team meetings;
Work with the CEO to organize and perform other duties as assigned;
Finance, Contracts & Legal:
Develop and enforce the consortium budget per operational and financial plans and formulates the corporate business plan for consideration by the CEO and Board of Directors;
Accountable for the consolidation and audit of accounting for OGC’s subsidiaries (one in the UK and one in Belgium - setup to facilitate involvement in European projects)
Accountable for implementation, execution and governance of all contracts, (membership, projects, grants and event sponsorships);
Point of contact with regulatory compliance and outside legal counsel;
Oversight of all banking functions;
Affirm core revenue streams (membership and projects) achieve optimum profitability ensuring organization viability and growth.
Human Resources:
Responsible for all human resource functionality;
Oversight of corporate-wide performance review process;
Ensure all international and US domestic labor laws are adhered to throughout the entire employee life-cycle;
Maintain the OGC Employee Handbook updating it as needed with new labor laws and industry practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in relevant business acumen, MBA;
Deep financial background and former Controller or CFO experience, CPA highly desirable;
Minimum 5-10 years executive leadership preferable with an international Not-for-Profit;
Strong financial, operational, human resources, IT and contract management background;
US Government contracts exposure;
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations is essential
Organized, team oriented, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects concurrently;
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suites, and Adobe Acrobat;
Experience with Netsuite CRM and accounting systems.
