Position Description: As CEO, responsibilities include growing and sustaining membership, managing and directing all programs, activities, fundraising efforts, and affairs of the organization, including crafting and implementing the Chamber’s Strategic Plan. The CEO leads all fundraising, marketing and public relations in collaboration and with direction from the Costa Mesa Chamber Executive Committee and Board of Directors. The CEO promotes growth in strategic partnerships and networking between local businesses, education, health care, government and other organizations to support the robust business environment throughout the City of Costa Mesa.
Represent the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce at various community meetings, events, and media sources, serving as a close liaison with all groups. Promote the business climate, and advocate for the business community in the City of Costa Mesa and County of Orange.
Work with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee to develop and maintain a long-term strategic plan, organize committees and resources to execute the plan, and identify the programs that will ensure the successful delivery of services to the Chamber and community.
Meet regularly with key Chamber members and all Board Members to determine key priorities and direction for the Chamber.
Responsible for developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies to increase membership and retain existing members.
Oversee the development, maintenance, and updates needed for the Chamber website and marketing materials
Work with the Board of Directors to develop an annual budget that is fiscally responsible - related to program goals and objectives approved by the Board. Manage all expenditures within the framework of the budget.
Develop meeting agendas, minutes, and reports for all Board and Committee meetings
Plan and execute signature events along with other Chamber activities/programs.
Manages all grant related programs (grant review, approval, payment, and tracking process)
Recruit, train and help to develop Chamber staff members and implement personnel policies and procedures.
Experience in managing personnel
Experience in working with a variety of stakeholders
Experience speaking in public forums and/or hearings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly organized and dependable
Able to complete assignments in a timely manner
Reliable, outgoing and able to work independently
Experience with community outreach and community programs a plus, but not required
