The National Press Club is seeking a motivated, organized and driven professional to join our membership team. As an events and program coordinator, you will play a leading role in managing key events for the organization and its members. This role requires excellent event-planning skills along with the ability to define project milestones and deadlines and coordinate both internal and external teams efficiently to meet organizational goals and expectations.
Work closely with the Membership Director and interact daily with the membership department, volunteers, leaders, and Club members.
Support the Membership Director with the operations and logistics of all member events, including the signature Headliners event series, committee/team programs, and other meetings/programs.
Serve as a staff liaison to member committees/teams and their respective group leaders and coordinate all member team events, both virtual/webinar and in-person.
Event Coordinating & Execution - Support the coordination and execution of in-house programs and events, including managing high-profile speakers; developing timelines; coordinating audio-visual, security, catering, and facility needs; coordinating press; leading programming run-throughs; packaging digital content for audience screens; managing stage set-up; registration and event site creation, registration reconciliation, onsite registration and ticket Regularly propose and implement new ideas to improve event processes.
Be knowledgeable about all NPC events in order to promote participation in membership and events.
Support the development of first-rate experiences for onsite and virtual attendees to drive brand awareness and member experience.
Serve as an initial voice of customer service for members interested in member events, assist members with ticketing questions, table reservations and other event related questions.
Help create and execute event marketing strategies, including developing invitation and website branding and content, social media, email messaging, press releases and event graphics to promote upcoming Club events.
Identify new and expanded ways for the NPC member community to engage with their Club.
Assist the membership team with answering customer service emails and phone calls for membership renewals and questions as needed.
Other duties may be assigned by Director of Membership.
Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
The ideal candidate will have a minimum two (2) years of work experience in a professional / office setting, early career.
Experience executing meetings and events of various size independently from inception to completion.
CMP, DES, PMP certifications a plus
Technology: Ability to master new software for event registration, email marketing, virtual events and webinars; proficiency in MS Office.
A track record of excellent customer relations support using a variety of communication mediums and platforms.
Demonstrated ability to plan events and programs, take initiative, set priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a complex, fast-moving environment.
Organization: Ability to self-organize with a strong attention to detail and handle multiple projects while prioritizing to achieve goals
Ability to have a flexible work schedule in order to be present as the on-site staff person for evening and the occasional weekend event.
