Fully remote Independent Contractor reporting to the Executive Director (ED), requiring approximately 132 hours per month. LLC or Scorp preferred. The Marketing Specialist functions as the main communication resource for the Museum Store Association. The successful candidate is both a strategist and a tactician with excellent editing skills who provides innovative marketing ideas, ensures marketing efforts are coordinated and executed effectively, and actively builds and maintains strong relationships with contractors, committees’ chapters, and members. This is definitely a hands-on position, executing all MSA communications.

Responsibilities
Responsible for creating and executing marketing plans across the organization.
Coordinates all email messaging including the Monthly New Brief and MSA Blogs sent out by MSA via MailChimp or appropriate tool.
Manages day-to-day updates of MSA, MSA FORWARD, and Museum Store Sunday websites. Contractor makes most updates themselves and sends out the more complex coding to our IT contractor. Will work with ED & Membership Coordinator on researching and creating a new main MSA website and possibly combining platforms of existing sites.
Oversees marketing calendar.
Manages all surveys, publications, and other marketing initiatives.
Manages all printed collateral as needed (postcards, brochures, flyers, etc.).
Directs administration of all MSA Social Media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Linked-In, Twitter.
Oversees marketing of Museum Store Sunday, including press releases, email campaigns, media contact, and working with MSS committee chairs.
Oversees the marketing of MSA FORWARD annual conference.
Creates regular reports on all marketing & communications initiatives to the Executive Director, the Marketing Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Manages relationships with other outside marcom-related contractors such as MSA Editor, Graphic Designer, and Printer.
Attends all monthly Marcom Committee meetings, Museum Store Sunday Committee meetings, and other related meetings as needed (virtually).
Attends the MSA FORWARD Conference as onsite event staff.
Attends various gift shows in person in place of ED when needed.
Upholds the mission of the association in all work performed.
Ensures all work performed is in line with MSA brand identity.
Additional duties as mutually agreed upon by the Marketing Specialist and the ED.
