The Director of Membership is responsible for designing and implementing the Center’s membership growth and retention strategies for nonprofit members. This role is focused on the growth of strategic member partnerships, coordination of the Center’s Connection events (Membership Connection and Coffee Connection), and the planning and execution of the annual Members’ Meeting. Additionally, the Director of Membership leads the Center’s efforts to share resources and market the variety of programs the Center offers to the nonprofit community.
Lead the Center’s overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage nonprofit members;
Create a data-driven member recruitment, engagement, and retention strategy;
Drive the Center’s membership engagement through compelling and measurable connection events and communications;
Build strategic partnerships by identifying and developing relationships with nonprofits, community partners, and funders to increase the visibility and accessibility of the Center;
Collaborate with the Center’s marketing team to develop and implement marketing initiatives to aide in member recruitment, engagement, and retention;
Oversee all aspects of the annual Members’ Meeting, including managing timeline for event, vendor engagement, making asks for event sponsorship, and all other event logistics.
Lead the membership program with a service mentality, displaying urgency and concern for addressing member needs;
Steward and build relationships through quality customer care;
Develop systems to oversee and track customer service engagements;
Possess a strong acumen and understanding of the Center’s programs and serve as a resource to customer inquiries, including the benefits of membership;
Provide guidance and expertise to nonprofits through helplines, informal consultation, community events, and other channels as needed;
Coordinate membership satisfaction and needs surveys with the programs and marketing departments.
Oversite of all membership data, tracking, and reporting, including but not limited to:
Accurate membership records (year-to-date and historical);
Membership trend analysis by county and subsector;
Recruitment and retention reports;
Current, new, and prospective member information;
Manage the input and analysis of data into the membership management system and prepare reports as requested;
Educate Center staff on the value of membership in order to analyze pricing and positioning of Membership fees, benefits, and engagement.
Ability to travel regularly throughout the state and outside of Oklahoma as needed;
Maintain professionalism, organizational standards, and confidentiality at all times;
In partnership with leadership, create and maintain the annual membership budget;
Actively participate in Center fundraising events and attend scheduled meetings as assigned;
Recruit and retain volunteers, donors, interns, and other partners;
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a degree, job experience will be accepted with approval of the President and CEO;
Exceptional customer service and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation);
Intermediate knowledge of technology (Microsoft Office Suite, database technology, etc.);
Knowledge of relationship management and project management preferred.
Possess a minimum of three years of work experience in membership development or customer service with proven success in the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
