The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) is seeking an individual to provide services in the areas listed below. The service provider will be treated as an independent contractor and is expected to work from his or her home or personal office. The contractor will report to NANPA’s Executive Director and the NANPA Board of Directors.
The Membership Coordinator position is anticipated to require 25 hours per week devoted to NANPA, some of which may involve evening and weekend time.
The services expected from the contractor will include, but are not limited to:
NANPA Membership Services
The coordination of NANPA’s membership development activities and member services programs, including but not limited to recommending and developing new member programs and services related to member acquisition, recruitment and retention,
assisting with the content development, implementation, and management of NANPA member focused literature and promotional materials,
assisting with the development of membership strategies to increase awareness of the value of NANPA membership and activities,
providing support to other NANPA personnel and committees for membership-related messaging,
managing the membership application process,
developing and managing association affinity and partnership programs (non-dues revenues and building partnerships and alliances),
managing the prospect database in sufficient detail to support NANPA member recruitment activities,
providing content for NANPA publications on membership development activities and status,
developing and managing membership recruitment efforts including maintenance of standard letters and schedule for follow-up to prospective members and renewal of current members.
developing and managing processes for regularly identifying and monitoring member needs,
developing and managing processes for member feedback on programs and services,
updating biennial education trends survey, analyzing results, and creating a summary of the current year’s result and comparing it with previous years and outlining the marketing plan for releasing the information,
updating membership surveys, analyzing results and creating a summary of results compared to previous years,
assisting, as needed, with onsite registration at Summits,
serving as project manager for NANPA’s annual member Showcase program, including planning and overseeing the photo competition, as well as coordinating Expressions development, marketing, and advertising.
serving as project manager for NANPA’s public photo competition, including planning and overseeing the photo competition.
outlining and overseeing the NANPA High School Program and committee annually,
outlining and overseeing the NANPA College Program and committee biennially,
outlining and assisting with development of the NANPA Handbook Program, including releases, content and marketing – limited to planning and marketing as required specifically for membership campaigns.
setting up online registration forms for all events,
coordinating NANPA’s webinar program, Sip & Shares, Gear & Gadgets Gallery, and similar webinar-based programs and facilitating the using of portions of the recordings for general marketing purposes for various needs of the organization,
creating, managing, cultivating, and coordinating NANPA’s volunteer management program, including developing and overseeing NANPA’s committee structure, committee chairs, special interest groups, etc.
serving as primary technical support for Your Membership and Informz
collaborating with appropriate NANPA personnel in the review and evaluation of NANPA’s overall branding, messaging and marketing strategies as related to membership recruitment, retention, and member services,
collaborating with appropriate NANPA personnel on overall strategic planning as related to membership development, activities, programs and services,
attending NANPA board meetings,
keeping up with industry best practices related to association membership
Job Tasks Include:
processing new member applications
preparing correspondence/packets for potential members,
sending out membership renewal notices,
processing membership renewals,
maintaining membership database,
running membership queries and reports utilizing the membership database,
maintaining updated new member and lapsed member lists,
maintaining up-to-date member email database,
providing general customer service including responding to member and nonmember inquiries on association activities and programs,
providing monthly membership reports to the board,
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience and at least 4 years of association membership experience.
Experience working remotely (we are a 100% virtual association) within a small team environment wearing multiple hats.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum four (4) years non-profit association membership activities/management experience
Excellent articulate, personable, and diplomatic customer service skills with demonstrated ability to work with volunteers
Must have proven project management skills
Must have a working knowledge of databases and Association Management Systems
Email and direct mail communications and membership experience required
Excellent copy writing and editing skills required
Superior verbal and written communications skills required
Social media content management experience required
Website analytics experience preferred
Accurate and efficient data entry skills; consistent accuracy and attention to detail a must
Ability to work with minimal supervision and see tasks/projects through to completion
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment

WordPress posting including using template structures and plug-ins
YourMembership and Informz (Higher Logic) experience preferred
GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar experience preferred
Google Docs, Zoom, Survey Monkey, and Dropbox experience preferred
