The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to improving mathematics education for all students. NCTM is the public voice of math education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to teachers.

NCTM is seeking an experience payroll professional who will work a full-time position doing work as both a Payroll Administrator/Staff Accountant.   In the payroll function, the employee will coordinate and process all aspects related to NCTM’s biweekly payroll, oversee general ledger activities, prepare annual & ad hoc reports, including compliance, provide data and act as liaison for payroll related audits.   The candidate selected will also perform staff accountant duties including monthly reconciliations, analysis, and complete journal entries for various accounting functions. Accuracy and strong analytic skills are key to success in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 

Payroll Processing: 

Perform all activities necessary to process an accurate and timely payroll.

• Oversee bi-weekly payroll with third party payroll vendors including timesheets, payroll processing, payroll deductions, retirement contributions, taxes, FSA, levies, and garnishments.
• Responsible for timely electronic transfer of data related to payroll/banking.
• Create and maintain all required payroll reports including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare annual and ad hoc reports as required by management, auditors, and external agencies.
• Ensure NCTM is compliant with all current regulatory requirements both in processing payroll and administering policies.

Staff Accountant Duties

• Monthly reconciliation and analysis of financial reporting for investments and other general ledger accounts.

• Budgeting and Chart of Accounts: assists Director with annual budget process including analysis and inputting budget data into GP Dynamics, running reports in Management Reporter.  Assisting with allocation calculations.
• Work on projects as assigned by the Director.
• Work with AP team in timely and proper filing of 1099 and 1042 forms.
