The Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) is seeking an Executive Officer with a start date between March and September 2021 (exact date and transition process is negotiable). The person we seek should be familiar with and committed to the work of the Society and should be able to organize and maintain an efficient office in support of its mission. Major responsibilities include managing logistical aspects of the Society's annual meetings (including managing a virtual meeting in 2021 if that becomes necessary), securing hotels and working closely with the Program Chair to construct and produce the meeting program; hiring and supervising support staff (if required); managing SSSR's finances in collaboration with the Society’s Treasurer; providing administrative support to the SSSR Council, Officers, and committees; running annual elections; maintaining and improving the SSSR website; and communicating with SSSR members.

This position is compensated appropriately for the time-commitment involved, approximately 40 hours per month on average through the year. The full compensation package also includes a significant budget for office expenses, travel, and staff support.
