The Accounting and OperationsManageris responsible for overseeing CAS’s day to day Operations and Accounting function.This position willplay a critical role in strengthening operations through development, design, and implementation of key initiatives and projects, processes, and procedures.
The Accounting and OperationsManager,will be a careful steward of CAS’s assetsand willevaluate and makes improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with CAS’s accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations. He/she will manage various accounting functions including ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and asset accounting, as well as associated analysis,budget and forecasting, reporting and internal controls. A solid technologically savvy team player, the incumbent will build and maintain relationships with management, staff, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Finance/Budget
Lead the annual operational planning and budget development process, monitor monthly and annual budget, and prepare quarterly financial reports while ensuring collaboration with budget owners.
Assist department with budgeting, planning and resource allocation; provide financial literacy training to budget owners and other stakeholders as needed to foster a better understanding of business processes within the CAS.
Ensure accurate accounting records, including timely month end closes and account reconciliations, to allow for monthly financial reporting to senior staff, volunteer committees and Board of Directors.
Perform monthly financial variance analysis with supporting explanations and anticipated impact to future financial results.
Ensure that all financial obligations are paid on a timely basis, directs theaccounts payable function, and provides support and backup to the and biweekly payroll process.
Provide administrative assistance, including oversight of vendors and contracts, and establishing and managing vendor accounts and relationships.
Ensure the integrity of all systems contributing to the financial records of the CASand provide input in all areas affecting the financial system to ensure proper set up.
Monitor cash flow and investments.
Participate and leads Finance and Investment Council online meetings.
Reconcile bank and investment accounts and prepare related journal entries.
Maintain CAS travel and expense policy, travel and expense reimbursement system
Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures manual.
Audit/Taxes
Interface with CPA firm to coordinate annual financial and agreed upon procedures audits.
Oversee filing of tax forms including 990, 990T, VA-500 and 1099s.
Direct and manage the preparation of all information, reports, schedules and analysis required for a timely and efficient completion of the annual financial statement audit and tax returns with external auditors and tax advisors.
Establish, monitor, and enforce an internal control system to safeguard the CAS’s assets, and optimize efficiencies within the Finance team.
Review all CAS’s activities to ensure compliance with not-for-profit accounting standards.
Operations
Responsible for office management, including owned and leased equipment, supplies, appearance, parking,connecting with building management, postage and UPS services.
Analyze and organize office operations and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
Oversee a variety of special projects including, but not limited to, development, design, and implementation of strategic initiatives and operational enhancements in collaboration with the CFO and/or any other Department Director/Manager.
In conjunction with Human Resources, develop and maintain a crisis management plan.
Responsible for association contracts and maintains contracts in centralized location. Monitors contract deadlines and provides review and reconciliation of royalty payments.
Responsiblefor association insurance policies, reviews and ensures adequate coverages and participates in annual insurance audit.
Serves as point of contact for records requests and maintains and organizes records as requested.

Required Experience and Qualifications
Fully accredited 4-year degree in Business or equivalent; Accounting degree preferred.
MBA and/or CPA preferred.
Seven+ years of broad accounting experience; minimum of five years in the not-for-profit sector.
Two+ years of supervisory experience.
Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills and ability to create and support a transparent, collaborative environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently and with others.
Solid analytical and organizational skills and ability to plan, track and perform multiple tasks; must be able to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
Proficiencyusing e-mail communication, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) andautomated accounting systems and AMS’s; Dynamics 365, andnetForumpreferred.
