Under general supervision, the Editorial Coordinator is responsible for all tasks required to support editorial peer review of manuscripts submitted to ASM journals. This position supports the goals of the department and the mission of ASM.
Manage the peer review manuscript workflow for ASM Journal Editors from submission to final decision.
Provide first-level technical and procedural support to authors, reviewers, and Editors for the peer review system.
Act as point of contact for ASM authors, reviewers and editors. This includes training on the peer review system and informing them of updates to that system.
Ensure quality control and monitor timeliness at each stage of the peer review process to adhere to ASM standards and practices.
Generate and monitor regular statistical reports on submissions, acceptance rates, and turnaround times and generate custom reports as needed.
Complies with company policies, procedures and regulations.

Thorough knowledge of journal peer review processes.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
Familiarity with web-based technologies.

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role and may sit or use PC for long periods of time. Bending, reaching or stooping may be necessary for use of filing cabinets or other office cabinets or office machines. This job operates in a professional office environment or a remote work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
